Since 1990, Victor Lo has been the Chairman and Chief Executive of Gold Peak Industries (Holdings) Limited, the holding company of an Asian multinational Group engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of batteries, electrical and electronics products. In the early 1970s, Mr Lo returned to Hong Kong after his university studies and joined the family business. Working with other family members, Mr Lo has successfully transformed Gold Peak from a family-run business into a multinational enterprise. He has set up an extensive manufacturing and distribution network in China that spans over 20 major cities. He has built up renowned household brand names such as “GP Batteries?and “CLIPSAL? “GP Batteries?is among the top three battery brands in China and it is also the world’s top ten battery manufacturer.
Apart from his achievements in the field, Mr Lo is devoted to public services. He actively takes part in various organisations that are crucial to the economic and industrial development of Hong Kong. He is a newly appointed non-official member of the Executive Council of the HKSAR. He is currently the Chairman of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, the Council Chairman of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a member of the Steering Committee on Innovation and Technology, and the Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Design Centre and a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Monetary Authority. He was appointed as one of the three Hong Kong representatives for the Business Advisory Council of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) from 1996 to 1999.
Mr Lo has contributed great efforts to strengthen the relationship and the networking between China and Hong Kong for the industry. He was the Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries from 2001 to 2003. During his term period, he set up the Pearl River Delta (PRD) Council to promote the interests of Hong Kong companies as well as to maintain cooperation and communication links between Hong Kong and Guangdong organisations. He initiated the ‘Made in PRD?research which provided extremely useful information for the Government and manufacturers of Hong Kong. Mr Lo is currently the Honorary President of the Federation.
Mr Lo’s contribution is well recognised in the community. He was awarded the Hong Kong Young Industrialist Award in 1989. He was appointed as a Justice of Peace (JP) in 1995 and an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1996. In 2001, Mr Lo was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS) by the HKSAR Government for his dedication in promoting innovation and technology and for his distinguished community services.
